The Fifth Convection-Permitting Modeling Workshop 2021 (CPM2021)

High-Resolution Climate Modeling and Hazards

Scope

The Fifth Convection-Permitting Modeling Workshop 2021 (CPM2021)
High-Resolution Climate Modeling and Hazards

We would like to invite you to attend The Fifth Convection-Permitting Modeling Workshop 2021 (CPM2021),  which will be held on 7 (Tue) - 10 (Fri), and concluding on 14 (Tue) September 2021 (8 - 10, 14 September in Japan time). The main focus of the workshop is on simulating mesoscale processes and extreme events with CPMs at local to global scales and the use of high-resolution climate models for hazard and impact assessments. We will highlight recent advancements in CPM simulations and hazard modeling, ensemble and high-resolution climate modeling activities, discuss computational and data volume challenges, and facilitate interdisciplinary community interactions. The workshop will feature invited pre-recorded keynote presentations and Q&A discussion sessions as in the 2020 workshop. In addition, Breakout discussion and interactive poster sessions will be added.

Main topics we will discuss in the Workshop

  • Extreme events and hazards assessments
  • Toward global CPMs
  • Advancements in high-resolution regional and global climate modeling
  • Ensemble based on high-resolution modeling
  • Computer science and next generation supercomputers

We encourage you to register for the workshop (free) and submit a poster for presentation.
Hope to see you at the Virtual-Workshop!
